Complete Your Florida
Medical Marijuana Registry

Follow these simple steps to activate your state license and get your patient ID card so you can visit any licensed dispensary.

📧 Before you begin: Look for an email from Medical Marijuana Registry in your inbox. It contains your temporary password — you’ll need it to log in for the first time. Keep that email open as you follow these steps.

Phase 1 — Log In to Your Registry

Find your temporary password
Open the email you received from Medical Marijuana Registry. Copy the temporary password inside — you’ll paste it shortly.
💡 Can’t find the email? Check your spam or junk folder and search for “Medical Marijuana Registry.”

Visit the Registry website
Click the blue link in that same email, or go directly to:

Click “LOGIN”
On the Registry homepage, click LOGIN at the top of the page.

Enter your username and paste your password
  • Username: Your email address
  • Password: Paste the temporary password you copied from the email
Click LOG IN to continue.

Create your new password
You’ll be asked to change your password. Paste your temporary password in the Current Password field, then create a new one.

Your new password must be at least 12 characters and include: an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol (like ! @ # $).
Example: Florida2024!

Phase 2 — Start Your Application

Navigate to Patient Card
Once logged in, click the 3 bars (☰) in the top right corner of the page. Select MANAGE YOUR INFORMATION, then click PATIENT CARD.

Begin your application
Click “Begin Initial Application” and then select CONTINUE to proceed.
ℹ️ If you’re renewing, click “Begin Renewal” instead.

Verify your personal information
Your personal information will appear on screen. Review everything carefully to make sure it’s accurate, then click CONTINUE.

Phase 3 — Photo & Proof of Residency

Upload your passport-style photo
The Passport-Style Photo section will appear. Click “Supply Photo”, then select “Check State ID Photo” and click Proceed.
⚡ Using your DMV photo is the fastest option — it’s automatically approved and speeds up your application. If you use your own photo, processing time will be 10 to 14 business days.

Confirm your DMV photo
Your DMV photo and personal information will appear. If everything looks correct, click APPLY to use this photo on your card.

Provide proof of residency
The Proof of Residency section will appear. Click “Supply Proof”, select “Check State Residency Status”, and click Proceed.

Confirm residency information
Your DMV information will appear again. If it’s correct, click APPLY to confirm your Florida residency.

Phase 4 — Review & Sign

Review & sign your application
The Review & Sign section will appear. Type your legal first name in the first box and legal last name in the second box.
⚠️ If you have two last names, or a suffix like Jr., Sr., II, III, make sure to include it exactly as it appears on your ID.

Submit your application
Click “Submit My Card Application.”

A screen will appear saying payment has not been received yet — this is normal. Click CLOSE, then an Application Summary will appear. Click CONTINUE.

Phase 5 — Make Your Payment

Go to the payment screen
The Application Payment section will appear. Click “CLICK HERE TO PAY ONLINE.” A new window will open for the Florida Health Department payment portal.
💡 A $2.75 convenience fee applies to online payments. You can also pay by mail (check or money order — no cash accepted).

Enter your card information
Select the Credit Card tab and enter your card details. Click CONTINUE when finished.

Agree to terms & make payment
  • Enter your email address
  • Check the box “I agree”
  • Click “Make Payment”

Save your confirmation & you’re done! 🎉
Take a screenshot of the payment confirmation for your records. You’ll also receive an email copy of the payment.

Return to the Registry — you should see “Payment is Processing.” You’re all set!
✅ You’ll receive an email confirmation within 15–30 minutes once approved. After that, you can visit any licensed dispensary right away!

📌 Important: Keep Both Active

To make purchases at any licensed dispensary in Florida, you must keep two things active at all times:

Your State License

Renewed once a year (annually). This is what lets you legally carry and possess products from the dispensary.

📄
Your Doctor’s Recommendation

Renewed every 210 days (about every 6.8 months). This is what allows you to make purchases — like a prescription.

We will contact you 30 days in advance before your recommendation is due for renewal. Both must be active to purchase at the dispensary. To renew your doctor’s recommendation, visit buddocs.org.
